GRANITE BAY, CA – A Roseville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to a string of robberies in Granite Bay.
According to Placer County Sheriff Spokeswoman, Dena Irwin, detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Department arrested 22-year-old Brock Anthony Kent at his home in Roseville on Tuesday.
Kent is suspected of stealing items from occupied homes, cars, and boats throughout southwestern Placer County over the past month.
On Monday morning, at approximately 4 a.m., a deputy patrolling in Granite Bay saw Kent pull into a driveway and turn off his car. When the deputy approached, Kent said he lived at the home. The deputy checked with the homeowner and it was determined that Kent was not a resident. He was subsequently arrested for possession of heroin, methamphetamine, burglary tools and a probation violation. He was transported to the Placer County Jail and was released a short time later with a promise to appear.
On Tuesday at approximately 3 p.m., detectives were performing a probation search of Kent’s home in Roseville. During the search Kent ran from detectives. A short search ensued, and a Placer County detective located Kent at nearby Maidu Park, where he surrendered as soon as the detective’s K9 exited the car.
According to Irwin, there have been more than 50 similar thefts and burglaries reported in the Granite Bay area in the past month that may be connected to Kent. Property was recovered at his home that was related to thefts and burglaries in Granite Bay, Roseville and Rocklin. Several children’s bikes were also recovered, which are believed stolen from a Roseville apartment complex.
Kent is being held at the Placer County Jail on charges of residential burglary, receiving known stolen property, resisting/delaying arrest, felon in possession of ammunition and probation violation. His bail is set at $95,000.
